Watchlist Data: Stock symbols, notes, target prices you create.

Usage Data: Pages viewed, features used, API requests made.

Technical Data: IP address, browser type, device info, cookies.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Provide and improve the Service
  • Fetch stock quotes and generate AI summaries
  • Send email notifications and alerts
  • Analyze usage patterns and optimize performance
  • Prevent fraud and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Data Sharing

We do NOT sell your personal information. We share data only with:

  • Service Providers: Finnhub (stock data), OpenAI (AI summaries), Stripe (payments), Vercel (hosting)
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger or acquisition

4. Third-Party Services

Finnhub: Provides real-time stock quotes. Subject to Finnhub's privacy policy.

OpenAI: Processes stock symbols and market data to generate summaries. No personally identifiable information sent.

Stripe: Processes payments securely. We don't store credit card numbers.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:

  • Watchlists and personal data are deleted within 30 days
  • Anonymized usage analytics may be retained for business purposes
  • Billing records retained for 7 years (legal requirement)

6. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data transmission
  • Bcrypt hashed passwords
  • Secure database hosted on Supabase (SOC 2 compliant)
  • Regular security audits and updates
  • Rate limiting to prevent abuse

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and data
  • Export your watchlist data (CSV)
  • Opt out of marketing emails
  • Object to data processing

8. Cookies

We use essential cookies for:

  • Authentication (session management)
  • Remembering preferences
  • Analytics (anonymized via PostHog)

You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may not work properly.

9. Children's Privacy

StockScope is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us immediately.

10. International Users

Your data is stored in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to the transfer and processing of data in the US.

11. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification.
